Litir Chumhdaigh

Dear Sirs,

I reside at Milford Road, Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow.

I have examined the submissions made by Genesis on behalf of Leslie Graham and refer to his Submission to have land rezoned from Agricultural to Residential at Milford Road.

Chapter 2 Core Strategy and Settlement Strategy

Housing:
As stated in the draft Co. Carlow Development Plan 2022- 2028, 12% of housing units in Leighlinbridge are recorded as vacant, higher than the National average( 9.1% )and County average  (8%). Why then would more land in the area be rezoned for housing?

Location:
Milford Road is a  narrow road with severe blind bends and poor sight lines. There has been vehicular accidents in recent times on this road . A very large volume  of traffic uses this road for access to the Nursing Home and Arboretum Garden Centre , in addition to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
The current Development Plan specifies “ the provision of additional new housing on appropriately zoned lands and the completion of Ballyknockan Manor & Friarslough to the west of the town”, with the necessary services in place, which meet the current allocation for housing and completes the developments.
Genesis, has made a submission to change land at Milford Road from agricultural to residential. This proposed change by Genesis goes against the current Draft of Co. Carlow  Development Plan 2022-2022.

Yours Faithfully,

Grainne Moran
