Submission on Draft Joint Local Area Plan 2024-2030
The Board of Carlow Tourism welcomes the co-ordinated strategy for the proper planning and sustainable development of Carlow Town and Graiguecullen in the above Local Area Plan.
Specifically in the context of the tourism sector, the Board recognises the critical importance of Graiguecullen in the provision of strong economic ties and assets which drive significant footfall into County Carlow premises. The Board welcomes the views expressed within the JULAP which recognise, that collectively and collaboratively Carlow and Graiguecullen can improve its profile as a tourism destination and grow tourism related employment, while also enhancing its tourist visitor experiences. In a sector where boundaries are not recognised by visitors, this approach will be to the benefit of all tourism premises both in Carlow Town and Graiguecullen.
