Having read the Strategy, I have serious safety concerns in relation to proposed walking route through Kearneys Lane.
1. The Lane is a single lane, laneway which is extremely narrow and when used by residents is already at full capacity.
It is already extremely hazardous to workers such as Bin men, delivery drivers etc. who have to reverse down the lane to carry out their work. Residents are aware of this hazard and as users of the lane, pedestrian’s and motorists alike we must be patient and wait.
2.The Lane will be hazardous to Pedestrian's who have no knowledge of the lane/area or awareness of the danger due to narrowness of the lane. Public Safety is a major concern.
3. There are no pathways. There is no space to build a Path.
4. Negative impact on security for residents on the Lane who are mainly elderly.
5. Loss of privacy due to the Lane being so narrow.
6. Negative effect on the quality of life for the residents of the lane who are mainly elderly and retired.
7. Negative impact on properties on the Lane. We have already experienced issues when the gate was previously open. Residents experienced robberies, anti-social behaviour, verbal abuse. Some older residents were afraid to leave their homes alone.
8. The risk to the public is extremely high. The increased human activity may lead to increased injury, property damage, disruptions and anti social behaviour. It may also impact the health and well-being of some of the residents who have already been intimidated previously when the gate was open.
9. Health & Safety issues involving access if there was an accident on the Lane involving the public.
10. The Route that will be used to exit onto Kearney Lane is private.
Find an alternative route not using Kearneys Lane.
