NOTICE OF PUBLIC CONSULTATION FOR THE DRAFT COUNTY CARLOW LITTER MANAGEMENT PLAN 2024 – 2026
In accordance with Sections 10 – 13 of the Litter Pollution Act 1997, as amended, Carlow County Council has reviewed its existing Litter Management Plan 2021-2023, and prepared a Draft Litter Management Plan for 2024-2026.
The Draft Plan was prepared following a review of the existing Litter management Plan 2021-2023, review of data from the National Litter Pollution Monitoring System and RMCEI for Carlow County Council, and consultation with Tidy Towns groups, Carlow Chamber of Commerce, Love Carlow, and Elected Members.
The Draft Plan is set out in six sections, including,
1. What is Litter?
2. Current status of Litter in Co. Carlow
3. Legislative requirements for inclusion in the Litter Management Plan
4. Description of a Litter Conscious Citizen
5. Objectives for:
5.1. Education & Awareness
5.2. Community & Business Involvement 5.3. Services and Facilities provided by Carlow County Council 5.4. Monitoring & Enforcement 6. How to Make a Litter Complaint
Public consultation on the draft County Carlow Litter Management Plan 2024-2026 will take place from Tuesday, December 19th 2023 to Monday, January 23rd 2024, inclusive.
A copy of the draft Plan will be available for inspection during normal opening hours at the offices of Carlow County Council, Athy Road, Carlow, and comments/ submissions to the draft Plan can be made on Carlow County Council’s Online Consultation Portal, https://consult.carlow.ie
Alternatively, comments or submissions can be made in writing to environment@carlowcoco.ie, or by post, to “Litter Management Plan”, Environment Section, Carlow County Council, Athy Road, Carlow.
