Urban Design & Implementation

I welcome the strategy as it has given thought to every element of how Carlow can be better and grow into a Town that is admired nationally and not just in the south east .

Transport is an important pillar in the regeneration plan and how we can move around the town with ease.

The orbital route to the south of Carlow is intinsic in any policy to remove traffic from the centre of the town. If we are to have a safe space for cylist and walkers alike we need to consider the completion orbital route as being a first step as we need to decluter the central routes of barrack street and dublin road and give another option for car traffic to move faster around carlow.

i agree that for safety we need to reduce the speed limit to 30km on the streets around carlow town we also need to look at additional safe crossing zones on tullow street and also on kennedy avenue . I would suggest on kennedy avenue at the entrance of the carlow shopping centre and also at reddys on tullow street . I acknowledge that CCC has installed a new crossing on Dublin street lower which is working very well without any negative effect to traffic flow.

at Night Street lighting does need to be improved on certain linking streets to make them safer places to walk . Centaur street, collage street,  burrin street are examples of low levels of light . If the plan is to be a success the linking streets will need to have the same level of lighting & security as the main streets .
