I am living and working in Carlow. I am very concerned about the climate change emergency. We have only 8 years to reduce our green house gases by 50% and at the moment we as a country are doing very poorly. Every local and government department needs to be doing its work to reduce green house gases and preparing for a low carbon economy. To do this the county needs a climate change officer who will provide the guidance and knowledge on what we should be doing and how to do it. We need to act now to address this very serious issue and hiring a climate change officer would be a great step forward to supporting the county council and all its department to act to reduce our green house gases in our county . The climate change officer will also be able to advise and support voluntary groups, residents groups, farming groups and many of our other groups and citizens of Carlow on how to move to a low carbon society.
