This Regeneration Project for Carlow is a major opportunity to turn the town into a modern and user friendly town which can serve the residents well. It is welcome to see the urban regeneration plan which will integrate the main areas of the town and regenerate the town centre area. The development of a cultural quarter is a significant improvement which helps to make the most of the wonderful assets in the Visual and Carlow College.
The pedestrianisation of larger areas of the town centre can only help to regenerate the town and aid in the attraction of businesses, retail and increase foot fall accordingly. Linking of the various new quarters (residential and commercial) can only benefit the town long term.
It is wonderful to see that the vision is there to turn Carlow from a town which has seen significant losses into a modern and integrated civic centre for the locals, people living in the county and hopefully attract more visitors to our wonderful part of Ireland.
As president of the Irish Countrywomen's Association The Oaks Guild in Carlow town I welcome this plan for the regeneration and development of Carlow.
