Carlow County Council will consider applications from Artists ( Artists definition : Those whose main discipline is in either Visual Arts, Music, Dance, Performance, Theatre, Writers, Film and multi-media, Composers, Circus/street arts, Traditional Arts, Social Engaged etc.) living in Carlow or who are from Carlow to enable them to pursue their practice and to develop within their chosen discipline, including research and development, project realisation or project completion.

GUIDELINES
Ethos & Focus of Grants
The purpose of the Individual Arts Grants Scheme 2025 is to assist local Artists who would benefit from this support or to develop a particular project.
Applications will not be accepted from statutory bodies.
Only one application from any individual will be considered.
Aims and Criteria of the Individual Artists Grant:
The aim of this Fund is to support Individual Artists in County Carlow that will support their on-going artistic practice and enables Artists for example to either:
- Realise an exhibition,
- Compose a new piece of music,
- Record new music,
- Publish work,
- Write new work,
- Attend an appropriate professional development course,
- Allow for artistic time and space to develop their work,
- Realise a show, performance or piece of theatre or film.
Artists can work in any of the following disciplines:
Visual Art, Music, Dance, Performance, Theatre, Film and multi-media, Composers, Circus/street arts, Traditional Arts, Creative Writing, Literature, Social Engaged arts etc.
Eligibility – Please Note
- The maximum award under this scheme is €3,000 for any one Artist.
- Priority will be given to new applicants.

Please note that only 70% of your total budget, if successful will be awarded to you.
No applicant will receive the full 100% budget proposed therefore evidence must be shown about how you will self-finance the 30%. - If you intend engaging an invited artist/musician to collaborate with you, you are required to include their fee in your budget breakdown.
- All artists involved a CV for each artist is required. (If it is just you a Bio/CV is required)
- If you are successful you will be asked to sign a letter of assurance that states you have the capacity to deliver on your application proposed.
- If successful and on completion of the proposed project/application a post-grant report form will be sent to you later in the year, this must be completed and returned. Details will follow regarding this if successful.
- Where a grant is allocated for a specific project Carlow County Council will not be responsible for the insurance of that project or for individual public liability insurance. Nor will Carlow County Council be responsible for your compliance with Child Protection Policies if activities are involving children and young people (0-18yrs). Carlow County Council recommends that the organisers have appropriate insurance cover in place prior to the commencement of a project. Where a project includes a large gathering of people Carlow County Council recommends that the organisers ensure that an Event & Safety Management Plan, Litter Management Plan, and Traffic Management Plan as appropriate is in place.
- You are only entitled to receive one Grant Scheme award within one calendar year
- Where a grant is allocated to an artist please indicate the ARTIST fee – it is the applicant’s responsibility to cost the fee for the artist appropriately and to ensure the artist is PAID
What is NOT Eligible under this scheme – Please Note
- Festivals and Events are not eligible under this scheme.
- No Capital costs can be covered i.e., building work on a studio / recording studio
- No equipment e.g., laptops / cameras / sound equipment and all other equipment
- Cost of Living Expenses e.g., Mortgage or Rent on property
